That Little Black Dress

You can never go wrong with that LBD (Little Black Dress) accessorized with lustful pearls and smokey eyes. Let us give you some inspiration on how to work that Black dress with an attitude. A true classic that would never fade in time,  the dress simply speaks for itself. As Nina Garcia stated in her book The One Hundred, "The price is immaterial, since it can always be justified by the rules of fashion math: cost divided by number of times worn equals: PRICELESS." Given a number of years, you can wear it over and over again, no questions asked.

Read along to get some guidelines on how to wear your LBD.

Just a few notes on finding and working on your very own
Little Black Dress...

 BACK IN BLACK

* Choose the best material you can find (not all are created equal)
and nothing too tight or too shiny.

* Consider you LBD a blank canvass instead of a fallback.
It demands to be ACCESSORIZED and adorned

* To avoid being accused of playing it safe, make sure you
have a dash of daring (a dangerous stilleto, bold jewelry, etc),
and make sure it shows off you best assets.

* Remember, the reason the simple garment is so
enduring is because it understands the essence of style: to step back
and let the woman shine. So SHINE!

* It is said that you need only one,
but a minimum of two is a better guideline.

* Make sure you can dance in it.

Hearts and More

Give some more lovin' as the love month comes to an end...

I finally found my accessory haven right at the heart of the bustling streets in Davao City. I've heard and known of this place for such a long time, but more often than not, I am too preoccupied to drop by their store. Anyways, while I am scouting for some accessories for our funshoot last weekend, I intentionally wanted to visit their store and I am so happy to have seen so many heart-shaped accessories and love connector rings as seen above. Believe me, I never bought as many accessories in just one day, and the quality is as good as you see in accessory stores in the malls and online stores. I've got, 3 necklaces, 6 rings, 4 earrings and some other cute stuffs that really didn't hurt my wallet... at all!

 Here are my Fab Finds:

Funshoot Weekend

Made out of  pages from fashion magazines - Our photo wall.

I haven't been able to post for the past week since vday. It's been a busy week but despite everything I was able to collaborate with a co-nurse with talent in make-up. I first noticed her lashes with mascara on and the pink lipstick she's wearing. Then I found out on how she loves make-up, and has a potential as an aspiring make up artist. Self taught and thanks to You Tube, she has been working freelance since college, o diba bongga! So both freelancers collide without second thoughts and we decided to organize a shoot together with some of our colleagues. It takes to have an extra talent to be nurse... really haha (just kidding). It just shows how flexible we nurses are!

Erica and Suzette while fixing our "model" hehe parang nasa dressing room lang ...

It's quite a while since my organized themed fun shoot. Last Friday, we were able to make it happen by having a PROM-themed shoot, since most of the Junior and Senior High School students are having their proms on February, featuring two contrasting classical Filipino-Chinese and Morena beauties and a quick and fun K-POP themed shoot that I wanted to do for a long time. Having been able to have inspirations from fashion magazines and current trends, we were able to mix and mash our ideas and came out with a beautiful theme, ala preview na ang leveling! (just a wishful thinking haha) Libre lang ang mangarap, right?!?! =D

Make-up and more.....

I'm very excited for this shoot, and I can't wait to share this with everyone else. It was a total success and I am thankful to Suzette for her stunning work of art, painting faces as her beautiful canvass, Erica for the hair (kulot master) and our two models Nayn and Faye for being such a good sport, who were willing enough to pose for the camera.

Gurl Power!!! Meet the whole team. Our Souvenir shot post shoot.

Here's a teaser from our shoot. Will be posting photos within the week! =)

Duo Commis : V-day Dinner

I've spent my VDAY with my family and friends, another good reason to dine out and eat good food. Since among the family members, my brother is the most knowledgeable of the restaurants here in Davao, he's got to pick the resto of his choice, for a change. This time around, at Duo Commis (Classic Cuisine), Located at Plaza del Carmen, Loyola Street, Obrero, Davao City.

I really haven't heard about this place, not just yesterday. The place is very intimate and the location is good especially if you don't want crowded places. I did some googling awhile ago, and I found out that they change their menu every 3 months. So that's something to look forward to. During special occasions, I guess reservations is a must due to limited seats/tables available. They also have tables set at the garden area yesterday, with candle light for a more romantic feel, chos! Best for lovers and friends out there =)

The inside interiors and some of the customers who celebrated valentines

For their Valentines Day Promo, they had a Full Course Meal good for 2 for only 999 Php. Inclusions are Appetizers, Main Course, Dessert and a Glass of Red Wine (Bongga). Their ala carte order ranges from 200-400 ++ more or less, not bad for a fine dine feel. =) I didn't availed the Full Course set, because I was already full, but I decided to try something that I haven't tried before. But I've got to taste everything, of course =) I must say that the food is refreshing, delicious and out of the box. When I got here, I kinda had a Master Chef-ish and Hell's Kitchen-ish feel. haha

Anyways, here's what we had...

Appetizers

Asian Beef Salad

Blackened Tuna

Main Course Meal

Bacon-wrapped Pork loin

This was my order, not included in the set meal though...

Porter House Steak (Choices of Steak ala Pobre/Mushroom sauce)
