A Hint of Portuguese - Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken

It has been quite awhile since I last set foot at SM City Davao, it is about 13 kms. away from home, so I find it not that practical to go there every now and then since there are already nearby malls near us. Anyway, my search for new restaurants have not ceased yet, It's my first visit for more than 2 months already so there was this anticipation that there could be new places to eat. So there was Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken (House of Portuguese-Style Grilled Chicken), to be honest I haven't heard of it before but I guess it's worth a try.

Random shot at SM City Davao (Annex Building)
The SM Annex is almost done, just awaiting for the other shops to operate. Definitely not the boxed SM we used to know.

The name "Peri-Peri" itself is very intriguing that makes a passerby like me say "It must be really something good". It means, “African bird's eye chili” which was discovered by Portuguese explorers in Africa. So therefore that particular spice, gives a different zest to our taste buds. Their chicken is very tasty, but for me it is just a few notches higher from our favorite "Lechon Manok" (Roasted Chicken).

Price ranges from 175-499 approximately and the serving is good enough for one person to have a hearty and fulfilling meal. There are set meals customized to your preference which consist of 1/4 or 1/2 Chicken, Sidings and rice or Chicken and Pasta Combo. They also serve the likes of Fajita and Quesadillas, as well as pizzas. Unfortunately, the rice that was served to me wasn't cooked well, I realized it when I was about to end my meal since I was very hungry already. hehe However, I can say that this is a healthy alternative instead of always eating fried chicken in fast foods.

We opt the set meal with siding and rice/pasta and Fajitas (Good for 3-4 persons)

Restaurant Interiors and Condiments...

For 49 php, you can have Beverage and Soup all you can. Beverages ranges from softdrinks, juice, coffee, hot and cold tea. With options of soup (corn and mushroom). Not bad for 49 pesos though.

After our meal, I had a cup of Cappuccino, just a great way to end my meal. Oh ha, parang coffee shop lang.

From night shift to food trip!

T.G.I. Fridays Night

TGIF - Thank God It is Friday! Hurray for those who works on a regular 9am - 5pm schedule on weekdays. For us in the medical field, we usually work on random shifts, sometimes we no longer appreciate the weekend. However, gatherings with friends and good food seems like just any other friday to me!

Me and my friends had a taste of an All-American meal at TGI Fridays, located at Abreeza Mall Davao. I must say that they really have good nachos in here, it is a must try. There are options of food platters depending on your preference, burgers and steaks as well. If you just want to chill and have a good time with you friends TGIF is the place to be. However, if you're that typical Davao diner, it can be a bit pricey here since there are also restaurants in the city that has similar concept with TGIF, good food still and a whole lot cheaper. If you are there just to enjoy the whole dining experience then the hell with the price, right?!

Bacon cheeseburger

Baby Back Ribs, Roasted Chicken, and porkchops with vegetable sidings

Deep fried shrimps, roasted chicken breast and fries

You will be entertained by their dancing waiters and waitresses!

Me and my friends. I noticed most of their diners comes in big groups.

Seems like friday to us!!

What's a Girl Got to do with her PHOTOSHOP?

Thinking...thinking...

So... what's a girl got to do with her Photoshop?! I've been trying to relieve my memories about 2 years ago, when I am just this eager girl sitting in front of the computer for hours and watch Photoshop tutorials and do some do it yourself stuff to improve my technical know how of this very complicated software. So complicated that self-study is not enough, I badly needed a course for this.

I just realized that it is beyond adjusting the color, hues, brightness and the likes. There came a whirlwind of layers that you can do as many before you can achieve a certain image. I just wish I can do some tutorials, too bad I am no Photoshop guru. (haha) I had my inspiration through people and media to billboards and signages. Whenever I saw an ad campaign on magazines, sometimes I tell myself that I can do something like that one someday.

There was a time wherein I am so in love with angel wings. :)

More graphic/graffiti inspired photos...

Apart from being a big fan of portraits, I also  love to capture still images that tell a thousand stories. It could be a pair of sandals like that one below which signifies a start of a new walk in life through sacrament of marriage or a rosary and bible that tells us there's light beneath darkness. Things like that inspires me. There's a struggle between my love on being a graphic artist but it is just not me. So I stuck myself to simple photography with vintage hues, bokehs and natural light, though I've been using flashes every now and then. I believe that less is more. I've tried to practice not to totally rely on photo editing tools. Instead, hone my craft in camera settings. That should every aspiring photography should do.

I am glad to have come up with these images, though I guess I might not be able to re-do this images again. Photography has been very popular these days, take Instagram for example on how enormous photo sharing is nowadays.  But still, I consider my Photoshop CS4 my own canvass for the modern day art. But, was I ever good enough? I really do not know,  I hope my post-processing doesn't suck that much! haha

*All images are edited with Adobe Photoshop CS4 from scratch =)

Red Kimono - Uniquely Japanese

Red Kimono's warm and cozy interiors

If you are craving for a hearty, yet guilt-free meal, going Japanese is always an option. This is probably one reason why we kept on coming back to Red Kimono. It is a fusion of traditional and modern Japanese cuisine, a place where you can find fancy non-traditional yet tasty Makis. Now, I totally forgot what California Maki is (haha), although Japanese food is not cheap, I assure you that it is all worth it. Red Kimono opened their first branch here in Davao at Abreeza Ayala Mall last year, now Davaoenos can enjoy a different twist of Japanese dining. Although I can also highly recommend some of the Japanese restaurants here in Davao. weee!

Since there are so many Sushis and Makis to choose from,  I suggest that you must try their Maki Sampler, where most of their best seller Makis are on one plate definitely a mouth-watering dish (refer to top photo), this costs around 595 php, and their Ala Carte 6-piece Makis starts from 180 up. They have a wide array of options to choose from one of my favorite is the Tempura Bento, you can never go wrong with that. They also have credit card perks and  promo, at they same time they also give out Privilege cards to their  loyal customers, discounts can be availed when you use it. The family has been here several times, so there is always a reason why we keep on coming back. Well, Mother's Day is coming up, so you might want to treat your beloved Mom with something Japanese. Just saying.  Hehe

Take a peek some of the food items that they offer...

Pork Katsudon

Japanese Noodles: Yakisoba

Until my next food hunt, too bad i wasn't able to capture their signature dishes that we ordered before huhu. I just love art of good dining. Just watch out for the calories every now and then though. haha

SPMC Post Graduate Interns 2011-12

Just as busy as a bee and barely a day's off is one main reason why I was not able to do some blog posts the past few days. Anyhow, it was sometime during the last week of April, I was able to have an opportunity to shoot for the Medical Interns of Southern Philippines Medical Center. Some of them were my schoolmates back in high school and college, most of them are familiar faces that I encountered during their rotations in the operating room. I have seen most of them work. Life of a doctor in becoming is not all that easy. It takes a lot of hard work, skill and patience in dealing with their patients and superiors. I wish all of you the best.

Kudos to the future doctors, proudly SPMC made!

Fronting the landmark brick building of SPMC

Best thing about this "so-called-job" of mine is, I get to be on the SPMC rooftop. Which we don't normally do on a regular basis. Sobrang babaw talaga ako noh?! hehe Usually the graduates from the training programs does this, just like what we did in 2010. Just maybe, I am proud to be a part of the SPMC family. hihi
