Beach front of Dayang Beach, a view near our cottage |
February has come to pass so fast, before we knew it, it's already end of the first quarter of the year. I haven't been to the beach since last August so imagine how excited I am for this weekday getaway, you might be wondering why on a weekday and not weekends?! Because we don't work on fix schedules (nurses are used to different shifts), and we can have the resort all by ourselves! How amazing is that, diba? A perfect time to unwind and relax, leaving all the "toxicity" back at home and at work.

We had our overnight stay at Dayang Beach Resort in Talikud Island, IGACOS. It is my piece of heaven here on earth, I am a certified nature and beach lover, minus the sun. Don't get me wrong we all have our own opinions. What might be nice to me may be the opposite for others. The resort may have its flaws particularly on their water source and electricity, but I enjoyed every bit of my stay here. Realization: Life is Simple.
Another Beach front view
Samal's got one of the most beautiful sunsets =) |
Anyway, enough of my rants about life and what it has to offer, let's get back to our whole isla experience...
Upon arrival, we settled ourselves and got oriented with the place. We were greeted by the owner, and her staffs. The place is very homey, just like our very own. To our surprise, we also have our very own Doggie Guards, so amazing that the dogs stayed and goes with us throughout our stay. Once settled we instantly took a plunge at the beach, it's a good thing though that the sun is already about to set, so bye bye Mr. Sun. We really had a great time while having our pictures taken with Jaylord's underwater cam! Read through for more details on how to get to this resort.

How to get there?
Destination
DAYANG BEACH RESORT
Talikud Island, Island Garden City of Samal
Rates
Day Tour costs for only 50 php and overnight stay is based on their cottage rates starting from 500 php (Good for 5 persons) to 1,000-1,200 php (Good for 10 persons), entrance fee is already included once you go for an overnight stay. Imagine how cheap and affordable their rates are.
Transportation
You'd get to ride these "Lantsa" going to Talikud Island, basically this is the main transportation when you travel to Samal Island. |
We took a "Lantsa" (a large motorized pump boat) at Magsaysay Wharf, they only have two trips per day (From Davao to Dayang) first trip will be at 6:00 AM and another trip on the afternoon at 1:30 PM., it's better to arrive before 1:00 PM as the boat leaves early as soon as it gets full.
Fare costs for only 60 php per head, and you'll be dropped right at the beach resort itself. Another alternate route is via Isla Reta, their last trip is at 3 PM. As you get to the Island, you will be taking a Habal-habal ride for about 20-30 minutes to reach your destination, fare costs 60 php per head (quite expensive for the motorcycle ride but it's all worth it).
FOOD
There are two stores nearby, one at the resort and the other one is outside, but items there are a bit expensive, since it's from Davao City pa. We brought along our food and drinks, including drinking water, since their water source came from sea water still. They also have mineral water for sale, but expect it to be much more expensive.
You can have your food cooked for only 30 php per kilo by their friendly local resident's staff and you can have it served by the beach side tables.Whew! Life's indeed a Beach! Kalami!
